The Springs Learning Center attempts to challenge the cycle of poverty, improve the quality of life, and empower the individual adult learner. The overall goal of the Center is to serve the marginalized by providing individual tutoring in basic literacy skills, job readiness, and the development of self-esteem for adult students through the talents and resources of the Dominican Sisters and volunteers from the local community.
The Springs Learning Center helps to provide more than education … we provide a community.
Our tutors help new immigrants learn about American culture, helping them feel more comfortable in their new home.
Our staff helps our learners find the assistance they need to succeed – from driving lessons to emergency assistance.
Our learners become more active in their children’s schools, in their parishes and in their communities!
If you want to become a volunteer tutor, please call the Center at (203) 787-1025 or email us at springslearning@oppeace.org. We will help you schedule an information session with the director.
If you are interested in volunteering in a capacity other than tutoring, please call the Center Office (203) 787-1025, call our mobile phone at (203) 780-1412, or send us an email at springslearning@oppeace.org to discuss possibilities. Administrative help and assistance with special projects are welcome on a regular or one-time basis.
